Last night I saw Leonard Cohen perform at the Centennial Vineyard in Bowral.

What a magnificent concert! Great sound, great location. Would have been nice if there had been another video screen, on the left side of the stage, but it wasn't essential.

What was truly wonderful was the artist.

I remember when the first Leonard Cohen album came out sometime in the 60's. Mick Marshall, a friend from Melbourne, who lived in London, played it to me. Mick was always onto music early. Back then I listened to the album and thought it was beautifully produced and written and executed, but to me it was like chick-flicks, something for the girls.

But last night, Leonard Cohen's voice was sensational and the songs that he sang back in the 60's seemed like they had been written for today...

What about the lyrics for "Everybody Knows"?

Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows that the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
Thats how it goes
Everybody knows
