I went to a briefing on APEC security earlier this week...

Made me feel that the police pretty much have this thing under control. Having said that, it is at the expense of a large part of the CBD being pretty much under lock down. The details of this have been widely reported in the media, so I am not going to repeat here what is already known.

The thing that is of interest is that the security forces are apparently not getting any intelligence on any terrorism activities at present, and it is  comforting to know that they are sufficiently plugged into those networks to be able to communicate with confidence that story. However, they appear to be less plugged into the social networks of agitators. Interesting that they are trying to monitor activities in this area.  It also seems that they tend to think of agitators as looking like long haired hippies. Imagine if demonstrators in Australia all wore suits and ties - like the lawyers in Pakistan who have been demonstrating recently because of the arrest of the Chief Justice (subsequently released).
