I have been in San Francisco and the Valley for the last week doing meetings about one of the start ups that I am involved in - ConVidea.

Have had some great meetings with some very intelligent people who have offered some great insights about the company, the biz model, the enviroment for this kind of business etc. (as one would expect).

But the thing that continues to strike me about having meetings with people in the valley is the incredible grasp people here have for technology. In Australia we just don't have the intense focus about technology.

I talked to one of the people I met about this during the week. He said that people in the US are generalists until they find an opportunity, and then the become intense specialists. And then once they sell out of the opportunity the morph back into generalists again....

In Australia I think we tend to remain generalists...
