MySpace tops out

MySpace is the number one destination for US internet users says Hitwise. Somewhere in late May it passed Google. Two years ago it registered .1% of all US visits; a year ago 1.9%; now its 4.5% with 75 million users. Rupert Murdoch has to be laughing. A year ago he bought My Space.

Why is this the sweet spot of the net today? A social network. Consumer created content, video and user ratings. The Grand Slam. Plus, it has that slight whiff of being anti-society. Plenty of pooh bahs disapproving, like teachers and parents, has kids rushing there.
