Many fear they missed the revolution. That blogging is here. That they missed the breaking wave. Not yet. Pew Research looked into what people do online. They correlated to age. Not surprisingly the internet killer app is still email. Across the board around 90 % plus, do email. Even oldies.

Pew found internet usage diminishes from highest amongst under 17's, to lowest amongst over 70 in everything ie Games,Web surfing, Whatever. Not surprising.

But the low number by a factor of 3 was in blogging. An average 27% might read a blog, a mere 9% create or write a blog. The cutoff point is age 29. Under 29, 20% write. Over. Only 9%.

The Long Tail notes that only 4% of Fortune 500 companies blog. Most of those are Technology companies. One day all companies will blog. Not perhaps the day to day of today's blogging, but business process blogging.

And the 9% involved? We are in the early days. All the usage numbers will at least double. If nothing else because kids will age and keep up their habits. Those kids/people will also join companies. The full onslaught of blogging is yet to begin. No one has missed the big changes blogging will bring. Let the revolution begin.
