Turbulent times create memorable protest. Two rappers, Legendary K.O, used Kayne West's outburst statement against President Bush on the Katrina telethon to create a mash called "George Bush doesn't care about Black people" Words (beyond West's lashing) by the Rappers, Kayne's music. So a remix!. It took them 30 minutes. 30 minutes!
They posted it to the net. Half a million downloads says it hit a nerve. Radio stations picked up the song from the net, including K.O's own site.
Then Black Lantern created a music video from K.O.'s remix, added in footage from Kayne's telethon appearance and other luminaries to make a searing point. His site suffered bandwidth overload as a result.
The cycle of creation was fast, efficient and demonstrated absolutely the new way entertainment is created and distributed.
