Sony say they won't burn Blu-ray movies for the porn industry. That's extremely ethical.  Porn film makers are now trying to find other manufacturers to burn the high def discs. Or they will use HD-DVD. It's an interesting problem.

Blu-ray is in a death fight with HD-DVD over market acceptance.Blu-Ray mayn be better but costs a fortune.  Porn is usually the single quickest way a new idea enters the mass market. Can ethics trump commerce?

There's new arms race on. Big TV screens are  arriving in every middle class home across the world. "Hang the expense, it's a must have" the homeowner explains, as they proudly unveil their 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6, grand new purchase; telling you, lovingly, about nights at home watching documentaries about the F18 fighter Jet in high def 60 inch plasma.

So. Once the excitement of the arrival wears off ,and reruns of White Christmas recede, what next? Better more content. Movies come back into fashion because now you see them as once intended. Big and clear. Better delivery systems ditto.

In the late 90's everyone overestimated the pace of change. But there wasn't enough broadband. Now there is. Now we are starting to see a big wide consumer base of great screens. Another wave of change is possible and certain in the way people get content. ie  internet delivered and what they pay for; ie simultaneous premiere at home and at cinema.

Perceptric Forum

According to Wikipedia a perceptron is a type of artificial neural network.

Ergo a “Perceptric” is a person who creates or uses a neural network.

The Perceptric Blog is where Chris Gilbey posts thoughts, ideas, and links intended to stimulate thought and accelerate the transfer of ideas.

Chris is available for consulting work with the premise that it is not technologies that are disruptive so much as the people that use them.

The Perceptric mission is to help companies and people reach their goals and exceed their expectations. This will often mean offering counterintuitive conclusions.

Our view? The shortest distance between two points is not necessarily a straight line. It's the number of people needed to be present in a human network to influence and deliver positive decision making.
