Our politicians are fiddling while Rome burns.
We have a real crisis with the environment. And I am not talking here about whether its getting warmer. We have a growing shortage of water in Australia. But we also have a problem with collapsing fish supplies. Have you noticed over the last 6 to 9 months that the cost of some fish has gone from about $17 or $18 per kilo all the way through to +$40? Using under sea radar that was originally developed for defence fishermen have deployed this technology to become more efficient. They got so good that the price remained relatively low because supply was high. Now there aren't too many fish left even when the fishing boats go way out to sea, so the time taken and the lack of supply is meaning that demand can't be met driving prices higher. Classic. But most people aren't connecting the dots. This means we are almost out of fish. Wake up and smell the coffee! When we kill off the fish the oceans will be so out of balance that they will get sick and die. We have to slow down. |
Perceptric Forum
According to Wikipedia a perceptron is a type of artificial neural network. Ergo a “Perceptric” is a person who creates or uses a neural network. The Perceptric Blog is where Chris Gilbey posts thoughts, ideas, and links intended to stimulate thought and accelerate the transfer of ideas. Chris is available for consulting work with the premise that it is not technologies that are disruptive so much as the people that use them. The Perceptric mission is to help companies and people reach their goals and exceed their expectations. This will often mean offering counterintuitive conclusions. Our view? The shortest distance between two points is not necessarily a straight line. It's the number of people needed to be present in a human network to influence and deliver positive decision making. Login
