Chris Gilbey OAM
If you have come here, you presumably want to find out a bit about me.
If you want to get the corporate bio and CV, go to my LinkedIn profile.
If you want to read some of the things that I think about from time to time, you can read the Perceptric Blog. I will be setting up a Chris Gilbey web site when I get round to it, to help build my personal brand profile. That will exist at chrisgilbey.com.
If you are interested in understanding more about me, I can give you a few insights:
I believe that what I offer people – clients in particular – is the ability to look beyond. Some people who do this call themselves futurists. I don’t know that I fall into that bag, but I am interested in how systems work and how they change. That seems to lead to people concluding that I think differently to a lot of other people. Perhaps the main thing that enables me to do that is that I have learned how to separate my needs from my desires. That means that while I am extremely motivated to create material success, I don’t take on things that I don’t believe in because of the need to get paid. It means that I do things because I believe in them first, and get paid second.
However, let me be clear. I do like to get paid. I remember years ago when I had a penchant for wearing Gucci clothes reading what the founder of that business said: “Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten”. Perhaps the corollary is that no one respects advice that they get when it doesn’t cost them anything.
The thing that I like to do is to work across multiple disciplines simultaneously. I have a great network of friends and acquaintances across a lot of different industries. These days “digital” is the glue that joins everything. So the area that I work in is “all things digital”.
By the way I also like to cook, love growing things that are useful in cooking (the picture is of a Buddha’s Hand fruit, and I am cultivating a tree in my citrus orchard), enjoy living in the country, have been married for 30 years (my wife is a gilder of great talent) and have two adult daughters who are both extremely intelligent – but haven’t realized yet how much potential they have.
If you want to talk about anything – but particularly if you want to discuss a wicked problem that you have in your business – please get in touch. You can leave a comment on any of the articles on this blog or you can get hold of me via LinkedIn.
