On The Road Again…
I'm off to Japan today for a week at NanoTech 2011.
Its been a couple of years since I was in Japan. Its a country I love.
A few westerners that I know find it frustrating to do business in Japan. I relish it. Japan, they say is the one country in the world where there are a thousand ways of saying “no” including “yes”! That may be true. But the one thing that you know about Japan is that when you make friends there, they tend to be friends for life, rather than friends who just want to make money with you.
I'm going on this occasion for my work with the Centre of Excellence for Materials Science. (ACES for short).
They are looking to develop a strategic relationship with a major company to explore the uses of nanomaterials in both energy capture and storage and the development of bionics for medical uses, including the development of products that address age related medical problems.
Both of course are big fields of commercial opportunity with the accelerating challenge of the moving target of demography and the fast accelerating cost of power.
Should be an interesting week.
