The Ineptitude of Political Parties

You know there is nothing more inept than a political party.

Look at the Liberals right now. Totally and utterly devoid of the ability to conduct themselves in a way that is befitting for a party that should be preparing to provide vision and leadership as an alternative to the Labour Party (and others).

But all they can do is bitch and squabble like a bunch of kids.

Malcolm Turnbull may not be the most likeable guy in parliament, but he has a hell of a mind. I suppose the question that everyone asks though, is, “Is he doing it for the country, or is he just in it for himself?” It is a tough question, but it holds true for pretty much every other politician in Canberra (and in the State capitals around this great nation of ours).

But then you look at the Greens and you realize that this party has so much difficulty getting out of its own way that it is just not funny. I joined the Greens a couple of months ago, thinking that this was a party with a future. I was encouraged by the state management of the party to understand what a grass roots organization it is and how that is its strength.

Having now had an opportunity to look at the grass roots level membership close up and persona, I truly wonder how they got past the basket weaving stage of existence. The people involved are truly well meaning. But without any sort of pragmatism that I can see…

And the opportunity that they have right now with the Libs so totally disorganized, is phenomenal.

I think I am going to have to rethink this politics business… Maybe consider becoming a Trotskyist, rather belatedly… :)
