I came across a nice app for FaceBook that also lives on the web. It asks you a bunch of questions and then maps where you fit in a quadrant that goes beyond the basic L – R concept of Liberal and Labour. (or Rep & Dem / Conservative & Labour). It is called Political Compass

Since so many of the parties nowadays clone so many of each other's policies in a blatant attempt to get elected at any price, including, as the Libs in Australia are currently doing – promising tax cuts to buy votes, which in turn increases inflationary pressure, which then causes interest rates to increase. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so slavishly pursued in this indiscriminate vote buying by the Labour party.
