Is there a rising tide of political criticism taking place? You might think so from books and articles that are being published. I went out and bought Silencing Dissent yesterday. This book is a real tour de force. If you are interested in what has been happening over the last ten years to manipulate your thinking…. then read this.

And then this morning I read this piece in Vanity Fair “From the Wonderful Folks who brought you Iraq“. Excellent piece of writing by Craig Unger.

And there are pieces like this one, “The Criminalization of US Foreign Policy“, appearing all over these days….

Does this rising tide indicate a change in direction? Certainly in the recent writings of macro-economist Stephen Roach, there are continuing references to a global rise in leftist thinking.
