Arasor – A New Australian Company

Last week I was invited to go to the press briefing for the public launch of a company that has developed the chip technology to enable laser TV's to be built. It is called Arasor. The company has fab operations in two continents and is intending to open up a fab in Australia too.

I have seen the prototype screens that utilize the technology and there is no doubt that the resolution and colour depth are absolutely tremendous. What is more interesting is what they are going to do next. Certainly head to an IPO on the ASX.

So why in Australia, one has to ask….?

I have met a few of the directors of the company, and the reason appears to be – an unbridled sense of altrism: give something really significant to the country. Along with a very healthy dose of capitalism of course…

At the forthcoming CES in Las Vegas they plan to announce the early manufacturing partners for the TV's that will be manufactured… and what is neat about this technology is that it enables screens to be made of any size – something that is either not possible or hugely expensive with existing technologies….

So we may hear a lot more from Arasor.
