Tom Barnett is a military strategist and diplomatic commentator par excellence.

Here is a piece that he wrote that absolutely sums up the stuff that is happening in the Middle East right now.

I just don't understand why it is that all the supposedly smart guys in Washington and London and Canberra aren't reading this stuff and figuring out that the Great Game is not about what you do – it is about the unintended consequences of what you do too!
