The summer changing everything.
Years ago, in the bubble, entrepreneurs would claim that a new business would change the way people lived. Shortly after, they would run out of money, the burn uncontrollable. This northern summer their predictions are coming true. MySpace usage through the roof, YouTube exploding, traditional media embracing digg and delicious style bookmarking and rating; television in further decline, wifi and voip ascendant. The list goes on and on.
Ideas and companies are hitting the ground like raindrops.
Like a jigsaw under construction its hard to see the new picture emerging but bit by bit its there. A swing to social networking; a move to video, consumer rating paramount, blogs everywhere, linkeage, collaboration.
It's the end of one to many as the dominant organizing model. It's the rise of peer to peer ideas facilitated by web technologies across industries, all driven by media platforms.
What? You think the MySpace and YouTube generations are going to interact online there and nowhere else? Both companies are important in themselves. But they also point to a new world outlook. Open, connected, immediate, visual, expressive.
People have talked about generation x and y for years. A so what generalization really. This is quite different. Its a state of mind that cuts across age, geographic and demographic groups. Big big change is here.
