Bulletin Boards are history, right? Nupe. They're still out there and providing useful service connecting deeply interested people around the world. Or maybe even just around a country or town.

Big Boards tracks numbers using discussion boards. 4 of the top ten boards are games sites. Two sites in French, four general discussion sites. Gaia online, the top site is an anime site with over 4 million users. ( and 676 million posts….these are dedicated users.) Clearly, huge numbers of people find them useful. The guy next door, or your father, might not want to talk Manga, or Streets of San Andreas, or diseases, but the kid in Daytona Beach or woman in Cannes might. Deeply committed and vertical communities.
