Some time ago I blogged here about the MySpace account that had been set up to send up Comrade Rupert. About a week later the link that I set up was non-functional. The page had obviously been pulled down by the proprieters.

Earlier this week I blogged about Rupert's speech in London…. At the time I was wondering to myself if this speech was really the thin end of the wedge. An opportunity for News Corp to set the scene for a controlled Internet with corporations setting the rules, certainly in regard to censorship.

Now I see that NewsCorp is well and truly advanced in such a tactic, censoring links, pulling down MySpace pages that are critical of the owners and even stopping people from linking to content on sites outside of MySpace. Murcdoch has also apparently put in place a $1Billion fund to purchase other Internet properties.
