The Read-Write Internet

Lawrence Lessig is one of the major proponents of freedom to create -
even using copyrighted material. He is also Professor of Law at
Stanford. We are not only in the early and ebullient stages of Web 2.0
- we are also at the point where DRM is going to make it virtually
impossible to do anything creative with content. And the irony is that
there is a considerable amount of stuff that, in some territories, is
already out of copyright and can therefore legally be shared.
Fortunately in some countries
the copyright laws are less savage, less draconian. But how will you
know which pieces of music are out of copyright? How will you be able
to look at the copyright year on the label copy of the piece of music
if you don't have a physical copy? Will you rely on a major record
label to tell you that the Elvis Presley record that you have just
downloaded is out of copyright and in the public domain and that you
can now do anything you like with it as it is unprotected?

Here is an article that Lessig wrote for the Financial Times that is quite important.

And here is where you can download some anime music videos made by fans.
