iPods in cars are a main new idea in US automotive. CES showed them all off. Meanwhile, eight thousand miles away, Denis Cleary is staggered.  Mercedes keep hounding him to install iPod holders. He has no idea how it all works. Doesn't want to. Today. But when his wife puts the iPod holder in? Or his kids? Then maybe?

Figure, iPod's the modern pied piper leading the world on into unexplored areas. It opens up all the possibilities of portable, digital life. It's the big lever of change. Even when it doesn't appear to be. iPod has made digital de riguer. (And given Apple a new lease of life) The world is living in an iPod moment.
