Satellite Radio – Stern

Today Howard Stern started his new gig with Sirius. The Sirius
satellite radio business works on a subscription model with a monthly
fee. In 2003 when they cut the deal with Stern they had 300,000
subscribers. They now have more than 3 million.  That translates
into a bonus payment to Howard Stern of stock worth $220 million. Not
bad for his first day at the office.

The way satellite radio is picking up in the US is phenomenal. The big
gorilla of the marketplace has double the Sirius subscriber base and
offers things like instant song purchase of music that you are
listening to and an incredible array of genre based programming.

Could it be that the future of entertainment is radio all over again?
