Oil and China

Some very interesting reading here about how future oil demand may be misread by analysts. It is a report from Morgan Stanley's Any Xie from Hong Kong.
He says that China is not intently focused on reducing oil demand.
Consumer behaviour, state sponsored energy saving policies, substantial
investments in energy saving projects that will never be unwound etc
will all lead to a reduction in demand from China for oil, while at the
same time global markets are forecasting increases in demand.
Unfortunately this means – at least in part – an increase in reliance
on coal, which may in turn lead to an even worse environmental problem
coming down the road.
