Download TV. Jobs puts an axe into the TV business model. Apple stretches its lead over the rest. People are conservative. Resist change. Yet Apple has given them a legal download habit. So Apple owns 89% of the legal music download business. Now, right beside music, Jobs is putting inviting chunks of TV. Will it work? Sure. Look at this.
Apple has a new franchise for iPod. Has a new revenue source from iTunes. Has new leadership of a new space. Retail. Apple the company is on a roll. A whole generation of buyers (older) are getting ready to snap up the gadget and download. It's easy for them. One stop. They get the Gadget.that leads to the Music. TV. Podcasts. Or anything else that comes along. And this announcement? Another marketing coup.
Meanwhile, ABC TV quick jumps the other networks into the new pay for play; free/premium mix-up. Moguls know TV network business models and economics are all downhill. This reveals a new way to make content pay. More must come.
