I went looking for a clear definition of a “mash-up” for a writing project that I am working on.

I found some great reference material and a couple of excellent mashes. Great article in The Economist here that covers not only music mashing but also web site mashes such as the Yahoo trafficpoly.

Also discovered a site for Fleetwood Mash, Mick Fleetwood's new band. But most importantly discovered a great resource for software that explains how you can mash yourself, let's you download the tools etc.
