Nintendo! Your DS is barking at me!

Hear the barking? It's your new game. Nintendo's latest handheld, the DS, is a dual screen masterpiece from the Gameboy makers. We are only just exploring where it can go and what it can do. It's the forefront of the new digital and communication world.

For example. Leave the DS on when walking around and Nintendogs will start barking when someone else with the game and machine is nearby. Yeah, barking. DS uses wi-fi. Has voice activated games. Screens that show different actions simultanously. Now Nintendogs has you playing with and training dogs. Different breeds too. It's sold a million units since release. Dragged a new group into the DS family and games generally.

Some are now speculating that DS could become an educational tool. The company thinks incredible games will take longer to arrive for the DS. (Hard for developers to work out all the possibilities). But already integration of music and action is happening.

The company is pumping up wireless connectivity for the machine. Pushing telcos for vastly more wi-fi hotspots worldwide to enable their gaming.

Thing is, kids might be the target of this machine that seamlessly allows them on the net to play, chat and talk with anyone, anywhere. But the company is pushing into new adult markets. That's to bring more uncommitted people to their digital table. But its push to make this machine sell, feeds into the spread of wifi, into spreading smart machines that talk to each other, into software changing our real world experince.

The dogs are barking everywhere about this development.
