Bird Flu -The biggest threat we know.
Bird Flu's been gaining a head of steam, unseen by the major economies of the world and fundamentally ignored by the news media. Bird Flu or H5N1 is a strain of flu that has mutated from birds; chickens, ducks, geese, fowls across the species into humans. Somewhere, there's been an exchange of genetic material and the flu has mutated into something we haven't seen before and have no vaccine for. The true killer is when efficient human to human transmission is achieved. We are not far away or have arrived at that point.
Today, Indonesia announced four people dead and eleven in hospital yet WHO only maintained its level three Bird Flu rating. Indonesia's Health Minister said they had an epidemic. They do. But she then withdrew her comment. No doubt under pressure from economic and political types. 63 people in a broad sweep of countries have now died from Bird Flu
A Bird Flu pandemic in Asia and the West is still highly possible.
