Health can bring the US economy unstuck. Depending on your financial situation the US has the best, or worst, health system in the world. It's a uniquely financed health system, with mostly employers paying for private insurance. Yet all old people can apply for Medicare coverage. This brings the Federal Government into the equation. And Medicaid is for all really poor people. More government. But costs of Medicare and Medicaid are going through the roof. Government wants to do something about it.
HealthDataInsights is a Las Vegas company that specializes in analyzing data about health, and the costs of health. Today, they received 13 million dollars in series A funding from Venture Capitalists. The funding will help fund HealthDataInsights expansion into assessment of Medicare claims in Florida. Florida is the second biggest Medicare market in America. Multi-billion dollar savings must be the target for both thee company and Federal governments.
Better systems, better computers, the internet, better analytics are enabling progress on cutting cost. Growth is one way to fix a bottom line. Cost reduction another. Today's announcement is about shining a small but powerful first torch into the black hole of healthcare to get some better answers.
