Don Rumsfeld, US Secretary of Defense, is a smart guy. Read his take on changing a bureaucracy like the Defense Department. (originally in the July Esquire) Change anywhere is hard. It requires persistence, organization and a very determined strategy. A place like Defense is often the ultimate hill too far. Read and marvel at Rumsfeld's desire for change. Note his clear thinking on what he has to do, and, what he knows it will take to achieve his goals.

And having been there in dealing with the difficulty of getting  change in organizations, salute as I do, Rumsfeld's  impact, drive and cold blooded determination to get what's needed.
