AARP and Medicare
America's new prescription plan for Medicare has been hard to understand even for those of us highly involved in health politics, organizations and marketing. Now AARP has ridden to the rescue. In Parade this week, the highly read, free Sunday media insert, AARP injected a four page Medicare drug explanation that was a model of clarity and precision.Graphical clean and simple, it lead to their website for more information. As a piece of communication, the insert was outstanding. Their website is equally strong. Fast, sturdy and easy to use. It's probably no accident that AARP is lead by Bill Novelli, one of America's premier marketing and communication leaders.
The insert had two purposes. Service; because it assisted members needs on a highly confusing issue.And visibility; because it reminded everyone; politicians, government, current AARP members and potential AARP members; that they're around, active and powerful. It was striking marketing.
